What does kindness look like?

Could it be more than just being polite or friendly?

In this Plan about the story of Ruth, we will learn new ways of bringing kindness to the world around us.

DAY 1: I'LL STAND BY YOU

When people experience a difficult season in life, the worst part is often going through it alone. No amount of wise counsel or material help can replace the presence of someone who loves you. No wonder God reassures us of his presence throughout the Word. "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you" (Isaiah 43:2, NLT). That was all Ruth had to offer her recently widowed mother-in-law.

"But Ruth replied, 'Don't ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God'" (Ruth 1:16, NLT). Ruth did not offer advice on where Naomi should go or how she should live her life. She merely promised to be there and did it.

Do you know someone who is going through a tough time? Is it possible that he or she is feeling alone?

Take time to just be there for someone. Show kindness by bringing God's faithful presence to someone in need today.
