TD Jakes (2018) – Naked and not Ashamed

If you have ever watched T.D. Jakes in action, the familiar passion in his voice comes alive between the pages when he thunders, “Without it (passion), you would be as limp as an overcooked noodle, your life as bland as hospital food.” My limp, Monday morning hair came to mind in a very dull picture, and I quickly pulled them together in a bun, hiding them from sight. And then we got to the real problem…

Why are we hiding? What are we hiding? Why do we avoid being naked in front of our loving Father who created us, as well as with others who are just as flawed as we are?

And there begins a journey to discard the coverings and cloths and layers we apply to hide our nakedness. T.D. Jakes guides the reader through all the painful corners with the entertaining, blunt honesty that could only be born of experience. Not for one moment are we alone in this.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found myself looking forward to the next time when I could unveil another hidden, broken area of my life to the loving words spoken through T.D. Jakes’ mouth. Whatever the context of your ministry or walk with God, once you are so graciously reminded of Jesus’ ultimate ministry while completely naked and unashamed, I am sure that you will be inspired to do the same.
